Table 2 shows that A. urinae isolates exhibit an antimicrobial susceptibility pattern rather similar to that of β-haemolytic streptococci with susceptibility to penicillins and vancomycin and low level resistance towards aminoglycosides. Only minor inter-strain susceptibility variation was found, which is in accordance with the published disk/tablet diffusion data ( 15 , 27 , 36 , 52 , 54 , 68 ). Most strains have low MICs to also other beta-lactams than penicillin. However for cefotaxime and ceftriaxone modal MICs has been found significantly higher than the modal MICs for penicillin and amoxicillin ( 32 , 63 ).
